About BB in South Australia

Who we are:

The Boys Brigade Australia operates in South Australia as it does in all Australian States and is part of the national body. The Boys' Brigade South Australia is in itself, an incorporated body. All leaders and helpers in BB undergo regular Police checks as part of our Safe Environments Program and Duty of Care policies.

Our Motto:

Sure and Stedfast. Hebrews 6:19 (King James Version)

Which hope we have as an anchor for the soul, both Sure & Stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil: (Note the old spelling of Steadfast on our anchor)

Our Object:

The advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys, and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian Manliness.

Our Purpose:

The purpose of The Boys' Brigade in Australia is to provide, in co-operation with the local church (of any denomination) a supportive Christian community for boys and young men to assist in their Christian growth, Balanced personal development, Leadership training and to assist the church reach out into the community.

Our Patron:

His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO, Governor of South Australia

Did you know:

The Boys' Brigade is the oldest voluntary uniformed organisation for boys (in the world). The BB started back in Glasgow Scotland in 1883. Even the "The Boy Scouts" founder Baden Powell was once an office bearer in The Boys' Brigade, with his "Scouting For Boys" first published in the BB Gazette

A word to Churches and other Christian Organisations:

The Boys' Brigade in South Australia is currently seeking to have a greater impact in the Christian development of boys and young men in SA by increasing its membership base by starting new companies. So if you belong to a church in Adelaide, The Adelaide Hills,The Barosssa Valley, Burnside, Campbelltown, Charles Sturt, Gawler, Holdfast Bay, Marion, Mitcham, Norwood/Payneham/St Peters, Playford, Prospect, Port Adelaide/Enfield, Tea Tree Gully, Unley, Walkerville or West Torrens Council Areas and if you're committed to the challenge of turning the boys of today into the outstanding men of tomorrow, we would love to hear from you. It would be great to see our country cousins standing up to champion "the boy" in their local area too!

All Boys' Brigade companies draw ownership and leadership from the individual church, local group of churches or other Christian Body (Christian Schools or Colleges) they serve. No Boys' Brigade company stands by itself as a seperate entity unlike many other youth organisations. This is only one of the ways Boys' Brigade is unique in its' structure and approach. Some companies exist as a joint venture among several churches (often of different denomination) in the same area or town. So if you have two or more leaders who want to make a start in bringing boys to Christ please let us know.

Thanks:

To all our past members, boys and leaders (both men and women) we say thank you for your effort, enthusiasm, devotion and passion for Christian Boyhood in South Australia. If you would like to keep up to date with current events you can find us on facebook.
